Vaccines - fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding

Updated: Jun 6, 2021

Vaccination in relation to fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding: an in-depth analysis of Government Advice

Fertility

Govt: Animal studies of Comirnaty have not shown evidence of any harmful effects on fertility, in pregnancy or in the developing fetus. Preliminary animal studies of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca have not shown any harmful effects in pregnancy or in the developing fetus. Definitive studies are underway.

Hang on a minute! Animal studies havent even been completed yet and we're already administering vaccines to pregnant women.

Pregnancy Complications

Govt: "There is no evidence that women who become pregnant after being vaccinated against COVID-19 have an increased risk of developing complications that affect their pregnancy or their baby’s health. We do not yet have results from studies of COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant women, though these studies are underway."

Well...there isn't any evidence of negative impacts because you have not yet completed trials or studies, duh!

Side effects

Govt: "COVID-19 vaccination may cause side effects in pregnant women or their babies that we do not yet know about. We do not yet know if there are extra side effects from these vaccines in pregnant women or in their babies, although this is very unlikely".

Excuse me....You stated that you don't know if there are side effects. How can you possibly know if there are additional side effects and how can you predict the likelihood or severity or prevalence for something you haven't studied yet?

Efficacy

Govt: "We do not know how effective Comirnaty or COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca are in pregnant women. They could be less effective than in non-pregnant women, but this is unlikely."

So, it appears you just provide assumptions based on ZERO EVIDENCE?

Breastfeeding

Govt: "There have been no detailed studies of COVID-19 vaccines in breastfeeding women. However, there are no concerns about their safety in breastfeeding women or their babies. Early evidence demonstrates that antibodies from women vaccinated with some COVID-19 vaccines (including Comirnaty) can pass into breastmilk and may provide some protection to the breastfeeding infant."

Where do i start...

Early evidence means: NO studies or trials, NO published or peer-reviewed data. Also, the vaccine 'can pass' or 'does pass' into breastmilk...do you know? "May provide some protection" ...really? you have no idea do you?

Govt: "Breastfeeding women can safely receive almost all other vaccines. The mRNA in Comirnaty is rapidly broken down in the body and we do not think that it passes into breastmilk.Even if it did, it would be quickly destroyed in the baby’s gut and is therefore extremely unlikely to have any effect on your baby"

Another multi-part response:

mRNA vaccines are not the same as viral vector vaccines. We cannot expect the same outcomes or adverse events.

And the RNA vaccine makes proteins which are replicated in the body and Proteins are most certainly passed through breast milk

Furthermore, If mutant proteins are created by the mother from the vaccines, can those mutant proteins be passed into breast milk?

Protection

Govt: "We do not know whether receiving Comirnaty or COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca during pregnancy will provide protection to your baby against COVID-19, because this has not been studied."

Finally...one honest answer out of the entire publication!

What else does the Govt not know about COVID-19 vaccines in pregnancy?

Govt: "We do not yet have any information from clinical trials on COVID-19 vaccines in

pregnant women. Trials in pregnant women are planned or underway, but it may take

many months before results are known. In the clinical trial for Comirnaty, 23 women became pregnant while enrolled in the trial. Of these, 11 women received Comirnaty. As of 14 November 2020, their pregnancies are ongoing, and medical experts continue to follow their pregnancies."

Well that's useless! 11 women is not enough to draw any conclusions. Also, it's May, shouldn't this data have been made available by now?

Govt: "Medical experts will get more safety information on pregnant women who have chosen to have a COVID-19 vaccine since the vaccines have been available. This will likely be available from countries, like the USA or UK, in the future."

5 months?, 5 years? Which is it? 'In the future' doesn't sound very definitive.

Govt: There is no available information yet on other mRNA vaccines in pregnant women

So We literally have nothing!

Govt. Recommendations

Fertility

"If you are planning a pregnancy, you can receive a COVID-19 vaccine. You do not need to avoid becoming pregnant before or after vaccination. Getting vaccinated before conceiving means you are likely to have protection against COVID-19 throughout your pregnancy. Vaccination does not affect fertility."

Pregnancy

"Although we do not routinely recommend COVID-19 vaccine in pregnancy, you and your treating health professional may consider vaccination if the potential benefits outweigh any potential risks."

Breastfeeding

"If you are breastfeeding you can receive Comirnaty or COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca at any time. You do not need to stop breastfeeding before or after vaccination."

Unbelievable!

How can people weigh up the benefits and risks if they don't know the risks?

How can their doctor advise them if the research HAS NOT BEEN DONE!
